Be Safe!

There are a lot of nice people in the world.
There are also a lot of people who might not be so nice.

So, how can you tell the difference?

The best thing to do is to follow your instincts. That means, sometimes we get a “funny feeling” inside when something is not right. It is important to listen to that feeling and go tell someone.

Another thing we can do, is follow some safety rules. Your parents may have some already for you to follow, but here are a little more:

Ask permission to go somewhere. If you cannot get in touch with a parent or someone to ask, then you cannot go.

If an adult asks you to help find a lost puppy or something, tell someone. Adults can get help from other adults, and they don’t need help from children.

If you get lost in a public place like a store, stay where you are and yell for your parent. If no one comes, you may ask for help from a worker or a police officer.

If anyone tries to grab you or take you, scream, “you are not my dad (or mom)!”

Make sure you memorize your address and phone number, but don’t share it without permission.

Make sure you know your parents’ names too.

Always go out with other people, like your family or friends. Try not to go anywhere alone.

NEVER touch a gun or other weapon.

NEVER touch drugs or alcohol.

NEVER play with matches or lighters.

NEVER swim alone.

Where a helmet when you ride a bike, skate, or skateboard.

Know how to get out if there is a fire.

If you are home alone, keep all doors locked, do not answer the door and never tell anyone you are there by yourself.

You have the right to your own body. Say NO if someone tries to touch you and TELL SOMEONE.

If someone is a bully at school, TELL SOMEONE.

REMEMBER, SAFE KIDS ARE HAPPY KIDS!
